Sean Ansett is a senior sustainability professional with over 15 years in the sector. Sean currently provides strategic advice to corporations, social enterprise start-ups, UN agencies and Non-profit organisations on ethical trade, human rights and environmental sustainability globally through his business At Stake Advisors. He is a Board Member of Liberty&Justice Clothing, Ethical Corporation, and advises Fairphone, LaborVoices and UpstreamIs.

Sean Ansett was the Director of Corporate Responsibility at Burberry in London. Sean´s 15 member team was responsible Ethical Trading, Environmental Sustainability and Community Investment. 

Previously, Sean was the Director of Global Partnerships at Gap Inc. where he led Gap Inc.’s social responsibility and stakeholder engagement strategy related to labor, environmental and human rights issues.He was the chief architect behind the company’s stakeholder engagement strategy significantly enhanced the company’s reputation. 

He has served on several global multi-stakeholder initiatives including the Advisory Board of Social Accountability International, the Global Reporting Initiative’s G3 expert committee, the Ethical Trading Initiative, a founding member of the MFA Forum and UNCTAD’s committee responsible for launching a guide to including CSR indicators in financial reporting.

Sean is a regular speaker and writer. He continues to lecture at top Global MBA programmes and other academic institutions. He has contributed and is quoted in Bloomberg, Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.

He has published in numerous academic journals including MIT-Sloan Management review. Sean contributed as a sustainability expert in two General Electric corporate responsibility reports. 

Sean is a returned United States Peace Corps and World Food Program volunteer.

Sean has a Masters degree in Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge, a Master’s of Science degree in Business Administration and is fluent in Spanish.

* Burberry Corporate Responsibility Director responsible for overseeing environmental sustainability, community investment and ethical trading strategy reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer.

* Global Partnerships Director who designed and implemented Gap Inc.’s global stakeholder engagement strategy repositioning Gap Inc. as a leader in Social Responsibility.  

* Global Responsibility Senior Team member responsible for developing Gap Inc.’s policy and strategic plans for monitoring over 3000 garment facilities in over 50 countries.

* Invited to Keynote the Tallberg Forum.

* Guest CSR lecturer at London Business School, INSEAD Business School, Instituto de Empresa Business School, IESE Business School, NYU Stern, University of Cambridge Judge Business School and others.


Other Relevant Experience:

* Managed and evaluated over 35 multi-stakeholder partnership programs with stakeholders in Africa, the Americas and Asia, leading to significant social and environmental improvements in factories and communities.

* Launched stakeholder dialog sessions with more than 60 multi-stakeholder participants as part of Gap Inc.’s Social Responsibility reporting.

* Developed the Mexican and Caribbean Global Compliance program to ensure social and environmental code of conduct compliance in over 225 garment facilities in the region.
